Job Description

Ground safety director overseeing Frontier Airlines’ airport operations, SMS, OSHA compliance, investigations, and emergency response. Leading safety strategy and teams for a U.S. ultra-low-cost carrier.

Responsibilities:

  • Set the long-term strategy for Frontier Airlines ground operations safety through regular assessment and active mitigation of operational risks
  • Lead and develop the safety team responsible for ground operations safety, OSHA compliance, employee injury management, and emergency response
  • Build partnerships with management and improve Airport Customer Service and Maintenance safety performance
  • Drive continuous improvement in Aircraft Ground Damage, including the AGD Review Board, initiatives, metrics, and analyses
  • Develop and manage business partner safety standards
  • Lead and improve the ground safety investigation process, including high-severity incidents, aircraft ground damage, and significant employee injury incidents
  • Ensure procedures, processes, policies, equipment, and facilities support a safe and compliant work environment
  • Represent Frontier Airlines to outside trade and government agencies on ground safety issues
  • Oversee compliance with national and local occupational, industrial, and environmental requirements
  • Ensure a robust Emergency Response plan is in place and actively tested
  • Supervise the Senior Manager Emergency Response, Manager Occupational and Environmental Compliance, and Ground Safety Specialist

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of aviation or airline industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated experience leading airport/ramp operations with improved safety performance
  • Experience and understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Ability to develop risk-responsive plans and accurately assess operational risks
  • Ability to work collaboratively across work groups and manage conflict
  • Ability and willingness to travel 30% of the time
  • Outstanding verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work remotely from home with access to a high-speed internet connection, if remote
  • Ability to follow Frontier’s remote work policies, if remote
