Job Description

Director of Operations at Bowhead managing SIT Group programs with full P&L responsibility. Leading initiatives for client engagement and operational excellence across DoD contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct leadership and management for programs, projects, and personnel across assigned divisions and/or units within the SIT Group
  • Organize project and task workloads, assign direct and indirect responsibilities, and select the most qualified individuals for specific tasks
  • Develop, refine, and implement SIT processes to ensure consistent performance and efficiency across programs
  • Address escalated issues through Program Managers and implement corrective actions to ensure resolution
  • Oversee and manage budgets for assigned units, maintain full P&L accountability, and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Cultivate a high-performing, collaborative team culture aligned with Bowhead’s mission and values
  • Mentor team members, offer professional development opportunities, and set clear expectations for performance and growth
  • Lead initiatives to expand the business pipeline, broaden the revenue base, and identify opportunities among existing DoD customers and in emerging markets
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive organic growth and expand into new areas, leveraging Bowhead's established core competencies
  • Lead and contribute to proposal development, including team coordination, technical content creation, and quality assurance
  • Serve as a senior point of accountability for customer satisfaction, managing relationships with program stakeholders and leadership contacts
  • Contribute to and implement approved strategic plans aligned with division and corporate objectives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology) and 10+ years of progressively responsible management experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in site lead, project management, and/or program management roles
  • Experience with Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF) and other cost-type contract vehicles is highly desired
  • Demonstrated experience in DoD contracting across technical, contractual, and leadership roles
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition environments, program structures, and government contracting frameworks
  • Knowledge of PMO processes, project management methodologies, and continuous improvement practices
  • Proven track record of managing programs to meet or exceed customer requirements
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels
  • Strong business acumen, including experience in strategic planning, resource allocation, and financial management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) at an intermediate to advanced level
  • A customer-centric mindset and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships effectively
