Job Description

Field Service Engineer installing, troubleshooting, and repairing analytical instruments for Thermo Fisher Scientific. Supporting research, industrial, and healthcare customers across Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex analytical and scientific instruments
  • Diagnose electronic and mechanical issues and implement effective solutions
  • Provide responsive technical support and exceptional customer service
  • Train and support customers on the safe and effective operation of equipment
  • Document service activities and prepare accurate, detailed reports
  • Read and interpret technical documentation and schematics
  • Respond to customer service requirements at short notice when needed
  • Follow applicable safety protocols and quality standards
  • Travel up to 50–75% within the assigned territory
  • Work in varied laboratory environments while supporting customer satisfaction goals

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field
  • 2 years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical instruments would be advantageous
  • Experience documenting service activities and preparing detailed reports
  • Demonstrated success in meeting customer satisfaction goals
  • Strong electronics and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and service management software
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively train and support customers on equipment operation
  • Proficiency in English
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50–75% within the assigned territory
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various laboratory environments
  • Ability to respond to customer needs at short notice
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and quality standards
  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and applicable safety protocols
  • Ability to work with hazardous/toxic materials and use required PPE
