Job Description

Field Service Engineer at ZTR configuring control systems for environmental impact in the rail industry and providing customer technical support. Requires advanced troubleshooting and project management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and support ZTR control systems using advanced PLC knowledge
  • Perform on-site commissioning and investigative troubleshooting of ZTR equipment
  • Provide technical training to customers on-site
  • Collaborate with and support the sales team as required
  • Participate in project coordination and project management activities as needed
  • Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 15%–30%, including travel within the U.S.)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-year diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology or Professional Engineer or Valid electrician license
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical control systems and locomotive electrical systems
  • Advanced PLC programming and configuration skills
  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus)
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of Ethernet networking, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, and Wi-Fi
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Hands-on technical experience required
  • Candidates with locomotive and/or freight railway experience will be given preference
