Job Description
Sales Engineer/Estimator delivering accurate cost estimates for Skyrise elevator systems at Otis. Collaborating with Sales Representatives and managing process improvements and change orders.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare Cost Estimates: Review takeoff forms submitted by Sales Representatives and NSMs
- Gather additional information as needed and enter estimates for standard and complex Skyrise elevators in Elogistics
- Identify required deviations, request engineering analysis, and run necessary reports
- Deliver final cost estimates and supporting documentation to Sales Representatives and NSMs
- Manage Change Orders: Process change requests from Project Managers or customers under guidance of senior team members
- Enter requests in Elogistics, coordinate engineering/drafting approvals, and finalize change orders
- Collaborate on Awarded Projects: Participate in Pre-Award Reviews (PAR) and Basis of Award (BOA) meetings to ensure alignment with customer requirements
- Support Deviation Management: Develop a basic understanding of deviation processes, utilize SDL and calculation tools, and respond to basic deviation requests
- Drive Process Improvement: Assist in creating and updating standard processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or Accounting
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, and/or engineering, ideally with a mix of disciplines
- Proficient in computer programs used in educational and work settings, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Ability to learn and understand estimating processes and workflow quickly
- Skilled in running Elogistics reports
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with Sales Reps and NSMs
- Proficient knowledge of Skyrise elevator equipment to advise Florence PMs and local office Sales Reps
- Ability to mentor and train new hires on standard estimating processes
- Knowledge and experience in technical engineering, mechanical, and/or electrical fields
- Elevator experience is preferred.
