Job Description
Senior HR specialist managing compliant employee exits and first-level employee relations for Remote’s global employment platform. Driving automation and process improvements across international HR operations.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions.
- Advise clients on termination, resignation, transfer, employment contract, and redundancy procedures while ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
- Lead client and external employee meetings, including workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separation and settlement negotiations, and termination outcome delivery.
- Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations involving stakeholders with competing interests.
- Coordinate with payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, trade unions, and other stakeholders on offboarding compliance and audits.
- Draft, tailor, and administer termination and supplementary documents while maintaining accurate, confidential employee records.
- Process offboarding in Remote’s internal HRIS platform with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time and Attendance teams.
- Serve as a first point of informal escalation, mentoring and guiding junior team members.
- Provide first-level Employee Relations guidance and help clients navigate complex workplace scenarios.
- Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns and identify applicable regulations and potential paths forward.
- Track employee relations cases and coordinate timely follow-up with relevant stakeholders.
- Resolve queries on offboarding and first-level employee relations matters as a subject-matter expert.
- Identify and drive process improvements, automation, product development, and customer and employee experience improvements.
- Determine methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments using judgment and complex evaluation techniques.
Requirements:
- Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies and employee-lifecycle exposure.
- Proven experience independently managing voluntary and involuntary employee exits with care, sensitivity, and legal compliance.
- Experience providing HR advice and guidance on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.
- Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline approaches, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments and analyze complex HR issues.
- Ability to research issues, translate findings into usable team resources, and provide practical recommendations.
- Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to independently lead difficult conversations toward positive outcomes while maintaining professionalism and strict confidentiality.
- Business-level (advanced) written and spoken English proficiency.
- Aptitude for process innovation, optimization, automation, and best-practice implementation.
- Strong operational efficiency, record-keeping, and data-integrity awareness.
- Tech-savvy and able to collaborate asynchronously using evolving tools and systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and cohesively in an international, fast-paced, asynchronous remote environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
- Proactive, self-motivated, accountable, and able to inspire others.
- Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR/labour relations/employment law are considered a plus (optional).
