Job Description
Senior HR specialist managing compliant employee exits and first-level employee relations for Remote’s global employment platform. Driving automation, process improvements, and customer experience across APAC.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits with minimal supervision across multiple international jurisdictions
- Provide guidance on termination, resignation, transfer, employment contracts, redundancy processes, and other HR matters
- Lead and facilitate workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separation and settlement negotiations, and termination outcome meetings
- Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations
- Coordinate with payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, trade unions, and other stakeholders
- Draft, tailor, and administer termination and supplementary documents while maintaining accurate confidential records
- Process offboarding in Remote’s internal HRIS platform with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time and Attendance teams
- Provide first-level Employee Relations support and guide clients through workplace concerns
- Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns and identify applicable regulations and paths forward
- Guide clients on progressive discipline, documentation requirements, and difficult workplace situations
- Track and monitor employee relations cases and coordinate follow-up
- Mentor and provide informal escalation support to junior team members
- Resolve offboarding and first-level employee relations queries as a subject-matter expert
- Drive process improvements, automation, product development, and customer and employee experience enhancements
- Determine methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments and adapt complex techniques to achieve results
- Report to the Manager Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions
Requirements:
- Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies across the employee lifecycle
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, labour relations, or employment law considered a plus
- Proven experience independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits with care, sensitivity, and legal compliance
- Comprehensive HR advice and guidance on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions
- Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline approaches, and workplace investigation fundamentals
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments and analyze complex HR issues
- Ability to independently research, develop usable team resources, provide practical solutions, and communicate recommendations
- Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills
- Ability to independently lead difficult conversations toward positive outcomes
- Business-level (advanced) written and spoken English
- Aptitude for process innovation, optimization, automation, and best-practice implementation
- Strong operational efficiency, record-keeping, and data-integrity awareness
- Tech-savvy and able to adapt to evolving systems and asynchronous collaboration tools
- Ability to work autonomously and cohesively in an international, fast-paced, asynchronous remote environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
- Proactive, self-motivated, accountable, and able to inspire others
- Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency
