Job Description
HR Manager leading people operations for California cannabis distributor Kiva Sales & Service. Owning HR strategy, payroll, compliance, employee relations, and team development.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership to execute HR strategy for talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning
- Administer benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, performance and talent management, occupational health and safety, and training and development programs
- Manage employee files, transfers, compensation changes, address changes, verifications, benefits administration, and documentation
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding administrative tasks
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Oversee accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing
- Plan and execute virtual and in-person culture events
- Serve as a trusted liaison and people-first partner to employees
- Evaluate and onboard vendors, including selecting a PEO partner for HR, payroll, and benefits administration
- Hire, onboard, coach, and manage a direct report to build a high-functioning HR team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience, including at least 1 year in a distribution setting
- Experience serving as HR for a distribution company in a heavily regulated industry
- Strong understanding of compliance, licensing, and safety complexities in a regulated distribution environment
- Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organizational development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement, and employee development
- Prior people management experience required, including hiring, coaching, and performance management of direct reports
- PEO experience required
- Cannabis industry experience required
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive for extended periods of time
- SHRM/PHR certification is a plus
- Google Suite experience recommended
