Job Description
Technical sales specialist selling Thermo Fisher flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters. Supporting academic, government, and industrial accounts across Greater Boston and New England.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical sales and related support for flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters in specified academic, government, and industrial accounts
- Cover the Greater Boston area and New England
- Prospect for new opportunities
- Demonstrate flow cytometry equipment
- Participate in local scientific shows and events
- Display awareness of the life science marketplace, flow cytometry trends, and competitors
- Drive sales opportunities by providing product capability and technical specification information and instrument demonstrations
- Attend and participate in sales meetings, seminars, and trade shows
- Support researchers through innovative flow cytometry instrumentation that accelerates scientific discovery
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field required; preferred M.Sc. or PhD
- Strong background and experience working in flow cytometry required
- 5 plus years of general work experience
- Hands-on experience in a research laboratory setting preferred, or previous sales experience selling instrumentation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Success in working and driving business growth across business functions
- Ability to travel overnight up to 50% of the time
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Able to lift 50 lbs. independently
- Experience working efficiently in a matrix environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of CRM systems like Sales Force
- Understanding of the sales funnel and how to move sales forward in a changing environment
- Can-do demeanor and highly motivated to win sales and take share from competitors
