Job Description

Business Development Manager for an insurance program manager focusing on broker relationships for hospitality products. Engaging with brokers and developing strategies to increase new business submissions in a remote role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Restaurant/Hotel Primary/Cyber Program Manager and Product Managers to develop and execute a detailed business plan to increase new business submissions and premium across all products.
  • Engage with current and prospective commercial insurance brokers primarily via phone, email and virtual meetings.
  • Meet in-person with brokers when appropriate based on current production and growth potential.
  • Educate brokers on our underwriting appetite.
  • Pre-qualify/triage new business submissions.
  • Contribute product enhancement ideas to differentiate our products in the marketplace.
  • Provide and manage market intel and competitor information.
  • Coordinate business development activities with internal marketing team.
  • Contribute ideas for marketing initiatives.
  • Communicate broker feedback to our Program Management and Underwriting teams.
  • Collaborate with other internal Sales teams and the Underwriting teams where appropriate for accounts which represent cross-sell opportunities outside of your assigned product portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of insurance career experience with demonstrated success selling commercial P&C insurance products at a wholesale, MGA, or carrier level.
  • Prior experience with insurance products targeting the hospitality industry (i.e., hotels, resorts, and restaurants) required.
  • Working knowledge of retail agency and brokerage operations.
  • Property/casualty broker’s license in state of domicile.
  • Proficiency in using industry standard metrics for tracking insurance sales and distribution results.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable coverage, policy language, and risk management concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with particular emphasis on Excel.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM.
