Job Description
Part-time Business Development Specialist supporting growth in Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico water markets. Identify and prioritize water opportunities by analyzing public agency plans.
Responsibilities:
- Assess regional water and wastewater markets by analyzing public utility capital improvement programs (CIPs), funding sources, regulatory drivers, and delivery approaches
- Identify and qualify near- and mid-term opportunities aligned with AECOM’s strengths in collaborative delivery, conveyance, treatment, and PFAS-related programs
- Partner with the Division Manager to prioritize target clients and pursuits, focusing resources where AECOM’s differentiators provide the greatest competitive advantage
- Support go/no-go decisions and pursuit planning by providing market intelligence, client insights, and timing assessments
- Build and maintain relationships with public water and wastewater agencies, industry partners, and internal technical leaders
- Collaborate with operations, project managers, and technical teams to position AECOM early and effectively for upcoming opportunities
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Planning, or a related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience
- Experience supporting water, wastewater, conveyance, treatment, or PFAS-related programs
- Experience in business development, client management, or market strategy within the water and wastewater sector
- Working knowledge of public agency procurement, capital programs, and alternative delivery methods
- Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Familiarity with Southwest U.S. water markets and public utility clients
- Experience collaborating with technical and operations teams on pursuit strategy
