Job Description

HR Associate managing employee lifecycle, recruiting, compliance, benefits, and HR systems. Supporting Yay’s growing K–12 school dining platform through scalable People Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day People Operations processes from recruiting and onboarding through employee offboarding
  • Maintain accurate employee records, documentation, HR systems, and compliance records
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee HR questions and requests
  • Coordinate employee changes, transfers, status updates, and offboarding processes
  • Maintain and improve HR procedures, SOPs, templates, and internal resources
  • Partner with leadership and hiring managers to support hiring needs
  • Manage job postings, candidate communication, screening, interview coordination, offers, and pre-employment requirements
  • Support proactive sourcing and pipeline development for recurring and high-volume roles
  • Maintain recruiting workflows and candidate information within the ATS
  • Coordinate background checks, employment verification, I-9/E-Verify, driving record checks, certifications, and other role-specific requirements
  • Manage onboarding workflows and ensure required documentation is completed
  • Help ensure People practices align with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements
  • Administer employee benefit programs and coordinate enrollment, eligibility, changes, communications, and provider records
  • Partner with managers on employee questions, concerns, performance issues, and workplace situations
  • Provide guidance on HR processes, policies, documentation, and employee communications
  • Own and administer People Operations systems, including the HRIS and ATS
  • Build, maintain, and improve HR workflows and processes
  • Create documentation and training resources for managers and employees
  • Use HR data and reporting to identify trends and support organizational needs
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, culture, and employee experience initiatives

Requirements:

  • 2–3 years of experience in People Operations, Human Resources, HR Operations, or a related field
  • Experience supporting the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, compliance, benefits, and employee support
  • Experience working with an HRIS or similar HR technology
  • Experience supporting recruiting or talent acquisition processes
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize competing needs
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a bias toward action
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work effectively with employees, managers, and leadership
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where priorities can change quickly
  • Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and improve processes
  • Experience with BambooHR or a comparable HRIS (preferred)
  • Experience with BreezyHR or a similar ATS (preferred)
  • Background supporting high-volume or operations-based hiring (preferred)
  • Experience in a startup or growth-stage company (preferred)
  • Familiarity with operations, logistics, foodservice, or multi-location organizations (preferred)
