Job Description
HR Operations Manager leading payroll, benefits, HR systems, and employee relations at NERC. Supporting North American electric-grid reliability through strategic HR partnership and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day People & Culture operations across payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, learning and development, HR systems, compliance, and employee lifecycle processes
- Lead, coach, develop, and mentor a team of HR professionals
- Establish performance expectations, accountability, service standards, and team capability
- Serve as HR Business Partner for assigned business units
- Advise leaders on organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, talent management, employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and change management
- Serve as backup payroll administrator and ensure timely, accurate payroll processing
- Support recruitment, selection, onboarding, and workforce planning
- Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, investigations, conflict resolution, corrective action, policy interpretation, and organizational changes
- Support performance reviews, talent assessments, succession planning, leadership development, employee development, and retention initiatives
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, policies, and reporting requirements
- Lead process improvement, workflow streamlining, automation, and HR technology initiatives
- Partner with Centers of Excellence, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders on People & Culture programs and organizational initiatives
- Support audits, manage vendor relationships, and maintain controls, documentation, and governance
- Lead and participate in People & Culture projects and initiatives
- Champion NERC's culture, values, diversity, inclusion, employee engagement, and professional growth
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Seven+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Significant experience in HR operations, employee lifecycle management, and process improvement
- Experience managing HR programs, policies, systems, and operational processes in a complex business environment
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance requirements, HR policies, and HR best practices
- Experience administering and optimizing HRIS platforms and leveraging HR technology
- Ability to analyze HR data and metrics
- Experience leading cross-functional projects, process improvement initiatives, and change management efforts
- Strong organizational, project management, problem-solving, analytical, reconciliation, and critical-thinking skills
- Strong employee relations, customer service, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally and discreetly
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Experience with HRIS systems required
- Background check prior to employment
- Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States
- Passport required for North American travel
