Job Description
Senior Business Manager managing pharmaceutical client accounts for Thermo Fisher Scientific. Driving forecasts, contracts, financial performance, and expansion opportunities in regulated drug manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with commercial clients in pharmaceutical services and manufacturing operations
- Serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams to support growth and exceptional service delivery
- Lead client partnerships, manage complex portfolios, and identify expansion opportunities
- Oversee demand planning, forecasting, contract negotiations, and financial performance
- Act as internal client advocate and lead customer meetings, site visits, and business reviews
- Ensure service levels and planning and technical information exchange between site departments and customers
- Coordinate resolution of significant client issues and implement corrective action plans
- Ensure client and Thermo Fisher Scientific compliance with contractual requirements
- Represent Business Management on process improvement and capital project teams
- Partner with Sales to identify product and service expansion opportunities
- Complete commercial assessments and analyze data using Excel
- Explore marketplace changes, risks, and opportunities to build demand models
- Verify forecast congruency with contractual commitments and accurate representation in S&OP
- Assist with annual commercial revenue budgets and annual operating plans
- Support quotations and technology-transfer and manufacturing-supply-agreement negotiations
- Identify and renegotiate unfavorable business terms and amend new arrangements to existing MSAs
- Build extended service proposals using quotation tools
- Implement client contract requirements, including pricing, payment terms, contract terms, yield reconciliation, and related provisions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; Business, Finance, Management, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or related discipline preferred
- PMP certification beneficial
- 5–8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably CDMO
- Experience managing commercial contracts and pricing strategies
- Experience with S&OP and demand forecasting
- Experience managing complex client relationships and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in business management, client relationship management, or similar commercial roles
- Strong understanding of GMP regulations and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes
- Advanced financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and business analytics
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Clear communication and presentation abilities
- Proficiency with business systems and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrix environment
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
- Demonstrated ability to generate business growth and identify new opportunities
- Ability to influence others to reach agreements and embrace a course of action
- Ability to identify market opportunities for new and existing clients and act accordingly
