Job Description
Territory Sales Manager selling SPT Labtech liquid-handling and sample-management products to life-science laboratories across the Northeast. Managing territory growth, demonstrations, pipeline, customer relationships, and pre- and post-sale activities remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Own the annual sales territory for SPT Labtech's liquid handling portfolio across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Eastern Canada, and Massachusetts (excluding specified separately covered areas)
- Promote, develop the market for, and sell liquid handling and sample management products to genomics, protein crystallization, and drug discovery markets
- Manage all pre-sale activities through purchase order and support post-sale activities
- Generate outbound leads, conduct product demonstrations, attend trade shows and conferences, and participate in local automation and liquid handling groups
- Collaborate with sales specialists, applications, marketing, support, and product management teams
- Build and manage the sales pipeline and customer database using quantifiable objectives
- Develop and follow up on opportunities across product lines and collaborate with product specialists
- Build consultative customer relationships and act as a trusted advisor
- Position SPT solutions within end-user workflows and explain solution benefits using available communication tools
- Cross-sell SPT Labtech's product range and propose global solutions
- Maintain application knowledge through training, binomial tours, and e-learning
- Manage CRM data
- Build and nurture relationships with library prep chemistry partners outside SPT Labtech
Requirements:
- Ideally located in the Greater Boston area, with an established network across New England
- 5+ years of experience in capital equipment sales in the life sciences market
- Experience selling automated liquid handling technologies or familiarity with lab automation solutions
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a life science discipline, mentioned as an alternative to experience/qualification
- Background in genomics or protein crystallography is advantageous
- Drive, tenacity, resilience, growth mindset, curiosity, confidence, humility, and accountability
- Comfortable owning a sales territory and working autonomously
- Willingness to travel significantly, up to 50%, across the region
- Based near a convenient travel hub
- Familiarity with CRM systems; Salesforce experience desirable
- Proven success and ability to develop business
- Ability to deliver formal and informal product presentations to individuals and large groups, including physicians, research associates, purchasing groups, lab managers, and executives
- Ability to work remotely and collaboratively
