Job Description
Head of Strategic Partnerships leading business development in genomic solutions for biotechnology. Managing strategic alliances and driving market expansion for life sciences innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, structure, and manage strategic partnerships with biotech, pharma, and technology companies to expand platform adoption, workflow integration, and market reach.
- Develop collaborations with ecosystem players such as automation providers, reagent suppliers, and synthetic biology platform companies.
- Build academic and industrial alliances that position the company as a key enabler of genomic and synthetic biology innovation.
- Negotiate and oversee joint development, OEM, licensing, and distribution agreements.
- Drive commercial and strategic initiatives that open new markets or applications for the company’s genomics and synthetic biology platforms.
- Work with R&D and product management to evaluate external technology access, co-development opportunities, or strategic customer collaborations.
- Lead cross-functional growth initiatives that align scientific capabilities with emerging market needs in areas such as cell engineering, biomanufacturing, and precision medicine.
- Translate scientific and technological trends into actionable business strategies.
- Support the assessment of acquisition or investment opportunities in complementary technologies or capabilities.
- Collaborate with Finance and Legal on transaction diligence, valuation, and integration planning.
- Maintain market intelligence on emerging startups and technology platforms in genomics and synthetic biology.
- Partner with the executive team on long-term strategy, growth initiatives, and portfolio evolution.
Requirements:
- 10–15+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or corporate development within genomics, synthetic biology, or related life science tools sectors.
- Proven track record leading complex partnership and licensing negotiations.
- Strong understanding of research and bioproduction workflows, including gene synthesis, sequencing, or cell engineering applications.
- Demonstrated ability to translate science and technology into strategic business opportunities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Experience in a public or growth-stage life science tools company strongly preferred.
