Job Description
Associate HR Generalist supporting HR guidance, policies, job descriptions, and performance reviews at Fish & Richardson, a global intellectual property law firm. Remote-first role focused on candidates in Minnesota, Illinois, Texas, Georgia, and Delaware.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Generalist team and department leadership in delivering practical HR guidance and coaching to firm managers
- Support conflict resolution, performance management, coaching tools and fundamentals, retention strategies, and employee separations
- Support day-to-day service delivery by preparing materials, coordinating follow-up, maintaining documentation, tracking deadlines, and escalating complex matters
- Support firm policy administration by drafting new policies and recommending updates based on HR best practices, business needs, and legislative changes
- Respond to employee and manager questions with the Generalist team
- Maintain firm-wide job descriptions and partner with managers to develop and update descriptions
- Assist with the operations staff performance review process
- Respond to performance review questions, review input, and help ensure ratings and comments are consistent, equitable, and legally compliant
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a closely-related field, technical training, or equivalent professional experience
- 1-3 years’ human resources experience in a professional services environment
- Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations related to employee management, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to successfully work independently and develop quality team relationships
- Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment, whether leading or contributing to department initiatives
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels
- Ability to communicate information with diplomacy and tact while safeguarding confidentiality and assisting in conflict resolution
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn HRIS and similar applications for data entry, research, and reporting
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving technologies
