Job Description
Institutional Account Manager driving BioMarin’s rare-disease therapy sales across California, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, and Idaho. Building hospital partnerships, finding patients, and supporting therapy adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Maximize sales of BioMarin commercialized products in the assigned area
- Maintain disease education and awareness to identify potential patients and initiate therapy when applicable
- Achieve territory sales goals, market penetration, market share, and profit targets quarterly and annually
- Create and implement business plans covering strategy, disease awareness, patient identification, patient adherence, and progress tracking for community-based healthcare professionals
- Create and implement institutional plans for opportunities within hospital systems
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and institutions, including neurologists, pediatric neurologists, epileptologists, geneticists, pediatric orthopedists, nurses, nurse practitioners, genetic counselors, physicians, and staff
- Communicate with external customers and internal stakeholders in person and via internet-based platforms
- Provide leadership by example to fellow Institutional Account Managers
- Financially manage the assigned territory
- Participate in business planning, disease awareness, professional society, and advocacy meetings
- Become an expert in identifying patients (“the find”)
- Demonstrate proficiency with CLN2 and MPS data and explain its significance to key stakeholders
- Provide field insight to internal business partners regarding clinical practices of assigned accounts
- Demonstrate leadership within internal teams and influence without authority
- Act in compliance with company policies
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5-7 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industries
- 3-5 years of experience in biotech/specialty sales involving high-cost products
- Extensive knowledge and sales experience within hospitals and academic institutions with KOLs and C-Suite highly desired
- Prior work with orphan/rare-disease products highly desired
- Experience with “the find” for patients and “hunter mentality” highly desired
- Experience in new product launches highly desired
- Good organizational, analytical, problem solving, and customer management skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage a multi-state territory with diverse customer base
- Ability to communicate with customers through internet-based meeting platforms
- Ability to comply with all company policies
- Overnight travel required, ranging from 50–75% depending on geography and business needs
