Job Description

Relationship Manager retaining and growing retirement-plan business for Manulife John Hancock. Building advisor relationships, improving plan participation, and driving regional revenue and asset growth remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic, mutually beneficial relationships with advisors, TPAs, plan sponsors, and the John Hancock team
  • Establish yourself as a retirement plan leader within the region and a source of creative solutions for advisors
  • Maintain plan retention and contribute to profitable growth
  • Identify and position the best Manulife John Hancock tools and resources to support intermediaries’ ongoing service commitments
  • Work with intermediaries to ensure quality ongoing service related to plan design, investment selection, and ERISA compliance
  • Identify plans up for RFP, facing competitive threats, or experiencing service-quality issues, and implement retention strategies
  • Implement asset maximization and retention strategies to increase participation, deferral rates, and account consolidation
  • Solicit opportunities during interactions with advisors
  • Set expectations for ongoing service and serve as a point of contact
  • Conduct plan reviews and business planning meetings
  • Identify and address advisor or sponsor concerns and take corrective actions
  • Create, maintain, and implement a territory business plan optimizing retention and revenue growth
  • Help advisors grow their book of business
  • Schedule time with high-value advisors to support achievement of their goals
  • Work as a key member of a regional team to achieve retirement plan retention, revenue growth, and asset growth through informed and loyal advisors, sponsors, and participants
  • Cover a book of business concentrated on clients with $15M–$50M in AUM across Corporate, DC, DB, and NQ markets

Requirements:

  • Three to five years of similar experience
  • Life insurance and variable licenses as determined for the territory
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Industry designations such as AIF, APA, APR, ChFC, CLU, CEBS, CFA, CFP, QKA, QPA, QPFC, or RIA are a plus
  • Superior business insight related to retirement plan products, the industry, and the competitive landscape preferred
  • Passion for contributing to a team with a positive attitude
