Job Description

Account Director responsible for new business growth across government accounts at Cision. Engage in proactive outreach and pipeline management while collaborating with multiple internal teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Own pipeline creation and revenue growth across a defined set of government accounts
  • Identify, qualify, and shape net new opportunities through proactive outreach
  • Execute a capture-oriented sales approach influencing requirements early
  • Lead full sales lifecycle execution including discovery and negotiation
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers
  • Position and sell across the full portfolio of solutions
  • Develop and manage a robust, qualified pipeline
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver compelling proposals and responses to RFIs/RFPs
  • Maintain awareness of government procurement processes

Requirements:

  • 5–7+ years of quota-carrying sales experience, with a strong emphasis on public sector business development and net new growth
  • Demonstrated success in building pipeline, shaping opportunities, and closing deals within government environments
  • Familiarity with government procurement processes, contract vehicles, and partner ecosystems
  • Strong proficiency with sales tools (e.g., Salesforce, Office 365)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align solutions to agency priorities
  • Understanding of Earned, Owned, and Social media landscapes
  • Willingness to travel to client locations 20% - 40% for in-person meetings
